Welcome to the Interservice Postal Training Activity Website! 

The Interservice Postal Training Activity is located in Building 2375 Beauregard St., (Across the street from the Army NCO Academy). 
All Army will still report to C Company, Training Support Battalion (TSB), Bldg 3205 Magruder Avenue. All Marines and Air Force will report to Building 2375 for in-processing.

Chief Warrant Officer-3 Smart was born on March 22, 1973 in Greencove Springs, Florida. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1991 and attended Recruit Training at Parris Island, South Carolina in August 1991. Upon graduation, Private Smart was sent to Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. After completing MCT in November 1991, Private Smart was sent to the Marine Corps Communications and Electronics School in 29 Palms, California for his MOS training a Field Radio Operator.
In February 1992, after completing MOS school, then Private First Class Smart was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines in 29 Palms, California for duty. While here, Private First Class Smart was promoted to the ranks of Lance Corporal and Corporal (Meritoriously). Corporal Smart was also deployed in support of Operation Restore Hope in Somalia while here.
In June 1994, Cpl Smart received orders to the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Okinawa, Japan where he was assigned to 7th Communications Battalion. While with this unit, Cpl Smart deployed on several detachments to support training exercises in Korea and on Mainland Japan. In May 1995, Cpl Smart reenlisted and did a Lateral Move into the Postal MOS. Cpl Smart received orders to 1st Service Support Group in Camp Pendleton, California.
Cpl Smart arrived at 1st Force Service Support Group (1st FSSG) in Camp Pendleton, California 1995 to begin his On the Job Training (OJT) in Postal MOS. While with 1st FSSG postal, Cpl Smart served in numerous billets from Post Office NCOIC to Deck NCO for the Operations section. Cpl Smart was promoted to the ranks of Sergeant and Staff Sergeant while with 1st FSSG. He deployed with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit on two separate occasions in support of their Western Pacific deployments.
In August 2001, SSgt Smart was assigned as the Postal Chief in Cherry Point, North Carolina. There he was selected and promoted Warrant Officer in February 2003 and attended The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia graduating in May 2003.
In June 2003, WO Smart reported for duty with the 3d Force Service Support Group in Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Postal Operations Officer, Assistant Postal Officer, and Postal Officer. WO Smart deployed in August 2003 as the III MEF Postal Officer to support of Exercise Cobra Gold in Thailand. August 2004, WO Smart was promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer-2. In January of 2005, CWO2 Smart was deployed as Part of Joint Task Force/ Combined Support Force 536 in Utaphao, Thailand in support of the tsunami relief effort.
In May 2006 CWO2 Smart received orders and reported for duty with Combat Service Support Detachment 11 at MCAS Miramar, California and was assigned as the Base Postal Officer. In August 2006, CWO2 Smart was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom for a period of 7 months.
In September 2007, CWO2 Smart reported for duty with the 1st Marine Logistics Group (1st MLG) at Camp Pendleton, California for duty at the Assistant Base Postal Officer.CWO2 Smart was promoted to his present rank on 1 December 2007. In January of 2008, CWO3 Smart was again deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the I MEF Postal Officer.
CWO3 Smart reported for duty as the Director, Interservice Postal Activity in July of 2009.
Chief Warrant Officer-3 Smart and his wife, Nicole, have 2 daughters, Hope (8) and Elizabeth (5). CWO3 Smart’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal with two Bronze Stars.

1SG FordMr Michael W. Gasque
Deputy Director, Interservice Postal Training Activity

Mr. Gasque is the Interservice Postal Training Activity Deputy Director
and Training Supervisor at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina.
Prior to this position, Mr Gasque spent 30 years in the United States
Air Force. He served over 22 years in the Military Postal System
performing all facets of military mail operations. Mr. Gasque finished
his military career as the Interservice Postal Training Activity Senior
Enlisted Advisor.

Enlisting in the Air Force in September 1977, he faithfully served until his retirement on
1 October 2007 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E9). He was assigned throughout the
world with tours in Texas, The Philippines, Virginia, Japan, Florida, Republic of Panama,
United Kingdom (twice), South Carolina, Hawaii and culminating his military career at Fort
Jackson South Carolina. Numerous temporary duty tours included Korea, Australia, New
Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt and Canada.
Mr. Gasque’s military education includes the NCO Preparatory Course, NCO Leadership
School, NCO Academy (Distinguished Graduate and Military Achievement Award Recipient),
and the Senior NCO Academy. His civilian education consists of a Community College of The
Air Force Associate’s Degree in Information Management, University of Maryland Associate of
Art’s Degree in Management Studies and a Wayland Baptist University Bachelor of Science
Degree in Occupational Education.
His awards and decorations includes the Meritorious Service Medal with Five Oak Leaf
Clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Joint Service
Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the National
Defense Service Medal with One Device. Other notable professional achievements include the
48th Mission Support Squadron Senior NCO of The Year, Ninth Air Force Postal Professional
of The Year, United States Air Forces Europe Postal Professional of The Year and the United
States Air Force Postal Professional of The Year. Under his leadership, his postal unit in
Europe was selected as the United States Air Force Aerial Mail Terminal of The Year for 2000.
Mr. Gasque is married to the former Cinthya Luz Guillen of Panama and they have 2 children,
Kathy (United States Air Force), age 26, and Audrey, age 10 The Gasque family currently
reside in Lexington, South Carolina.
